Job Description
A leading mobility services business is looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join them on a permanent basis.
This role sits at the heart of a major technology modernisation programme, helping transform how data moves across the organisation, customers, suppliers, and partner systems. The business is modernising a legacy data landscape that has evolved over more than 15 years and is now investing heavily in new platforms, integrations, APIs, and data capabilities.
The role is based in Wiltshire with 3 days/week on site and is paying up to £65,000 depending on experience.
As the Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will be:
- Maintaining and improving existing data transfer mechanisms between customers, suppliers, and internal systems.
- Modernising legacy integrations, ETL processes, and data pipelines as part of a wider technology transformation programme.
- Helping evolve the organisation from traditional file-based integrations towards more modern API-driven and streaming-based approaches.
- Building and maintaining data pipelines, integrations, and platform components that support reporting, analytics, and operational systems.
- Working closely with Data Architects, Data Integration Engineers, Application Support teams, and Engineering teams to identify improvements and resolve issues.
- Supporting the design and implementation of APIs, customer integrations, and supplier integrations.
- Contributing to technology decisions and future platform direction by providing hands-on engineering expertise and practical recommendations.
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimising production data integration processes.
They are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting legacy data environments whilst helping modernise integration and data transfer capabilities.
- Brings strong SQL, Python, Oracle, Azure, and data engineering experience.
- Has exposure to ETL development, data pipelines, APIs, and integration technologies.
- Understands data lakes and modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric or Databricks.
- Can work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Has some understanding of Power BI and reporting environments.
- Enjoys working in a fast-changing environment where they will have significant ownership and autonomy.
- Is comfortable collaborating with international teams, including colleagues based in the United States.
It is a really strong opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing hands-on engineering with modernisation work, helping shape the future of a large-scale data environment whilst remaining close to the technology and delivery teams. There is significant investment in technology transformation across the business, making this an exciting time to join.
