Director of Energy Advice 

 

As the Director of Energy Advice you will be working with an Energy Agency established as a charity,  working with people to overcome fuel poverty and acting on climate change. 

You will work in research and development to pilot innovative renewable technologies and work with local authorities, government departments and policymakers to promote environmental sustainability through renewable energy and low carbon development, and will find yourself working with:

  • Residents and households to help them use energy more efficiently and lead healthier, more affordable lives.
  • Businesses to reduce their carbon footprint.
  • Communities to help them meet the challenges of the future, take control of their energy use and implement ideas that reduce fuel poverty and energy use.

As part of the Senior Leadership team,  you will be responsible for growing the work to meet the Charity's strategic goals as well as manage the existing operations, budget and staff.

Responsibilities will also include:

  • Delivery of energy advice, advocacy and community programmes ensuring all projects are delivered on time, on target
  • Work with local, regional, national, and international stakeholders, to develop new energy advice programmes
  • Work with the Director of Finance to ensure the programme  is delivered on budget
  • Work with the Head of Fundraising to ensure the programme of work is fully funded.
  • Work with the leadership team to develop and deliver effective policies and procedures to meet our statutory and quality standards

Experience required:

  • 3 years Management/leadership experience developing and delivering strategy in the Energy or social sector offering support, advice and guidance to vulnerable and disadvantaged people and communities.  
  • Experience of financial management of projects exceeding £300,000.
  • Experience of developing and submitting successful bids or tenders exceeding £100,000.
  • Experience of working in, or in support of, local or other statutory authorities.
  • Understanding of the third sector (voluntary sector, non-profit sector, or civil society including; charities, voluntary organisations, community groups, not-for-profit organisations)
